About Shela
Shela Lahey Coleman is the Founder of The Guided Mirror. Shela is a Certified Life Coach accredited by the International Coaching Foundation and trained by Harvard Medical School Executive Education in the study of Lifestyle Medicine where she received her COC. Shela has devoted 3 decades to coaching, consulting, and partnering with business professionals and individuals to co-create goals that will allow her clients to find balance and success in living an authentic and healthy lifestyle.
Shela has had a diverse and colorful career, which includes many significant, transitional experiences in her life. She is passionate about helping others cope and achieve success with their transitional moments. Shela believes strongly in utilizing both science-based studies and intuitive insights to help her clients develop their potential & goals.
Shela loves sharing her story and journey through her speaking engagements. She has led Leadership Conferences for major corporations and Educational Institutions, as well as smaller intimate workshops for Professionals & Students of diverse backgrounds. Her strong Life Coaching skills, accreditations, and lived experience form a solid foundation for her life wellness presentations that give you tools to go from “Burnout to Breakthrough”. You can learn how to stop running on empty and live a life of healthy choices with vibrant energy. Shela Lahey Coleman is also the Founder of Feyt Productions. Shela has been an avid reader and writer since childhood. She won her first writing competition in 8th Grade where she was awarded 3rd place in the Washington D.C. Knights of Colombus tri-state (D.C., MD, VA) writing competition. Additionally, Shela started performing at a young age and was a member of Actors Equity for over 20 years. Shela received her BFA from The Theatre School at DePaul University. She had the privilege of performing on such stages as Washington D.C.’s National Theatre, Chicago’s Goodman and Marriott Theatres, the Zephyr theatre in Los Angeles, and New York’s REV Theatre Company (formerly Merry-Go-Round Playhouse).
Shela founded the Sycamore Film Festival, a non-profit “Arts for the Arts” event that included Tony, Emmy, & Oscar award nominees and winners as well as international student filmmakers. The SFF awarded scholarships to young adults pursuing education in the Arts. Shela ran the festival as Executive Director for 4 years before taking over a larger non-profit in the Chicagoland area as their Executive Vice President. Shela helmed that Association for 7 years, producing 18 to 21 events annually whose proceeds supported Veterans, At Risk children, Shelters for the Unhoused, and Habitat for Humanity.
Shela is currently a long-time member of the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) with 35+ years of acting, writing, producing, and directing professionally for television, film, theatre, and several news & magazine publications.
Shela has been honored to work with such legends as Mark Medoff, Barbara Turner, James Spader, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross/Ken Ross, and Jane Alderman. Ms. Alderman’s production company, Chilany Productions, produced Shela’s first stage play at the Theatre Building in Chicago, and also produced Shela’s first television pilot, “Sam Hill”, starring the wonderful Chelcie Ross. Shela has written and directed several documentaries, and produced a short feature film, “The Letter” by Eddie Heffernan, which was awarded Best Student Short Film at the Nashville Film Festival.
Shela has also written a compilation of poetry called “Ghosts Scream Let Freedom Ring”, and the poetry trilogy “Surviving Youth”. Shela is in development with a screenplay she wrote based on a book she optioned titled “Biting the Dust” by the prolific writer, Dirk Johnson. Additionally, Shela is currently working on two non-fiction books related to her life coaching journey.
